Scholarships
Please read the descriptions of each scholarship below to find one that suits you.  The SYO encourages every member to apply. 

SYO - OPSO Community Music Scholarship
Due february 16, 2022

 A $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to assist in furthering a student's musical education.  Applicants must be a member in good standing of the SYO, and must be in 10th or 11th grade in school.  All applicants must intend to continue in the SYO.

Christopher T. and Carmen Hughes Memorial Scholarship
Due February 16, 2022

This award is presented to a high school senior planning to study music in college, or an under class student planning to continue in SYO.

Founders Scholarship
In Recognition of Ellen Buxton, one of the SYO Founders
DUE February 16, 2022

This $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to assist in furthering a student's studies in the field of music education.  The applicant must be a member in good standing of the SYO, with a minimum of three (3) years of participation.  This scholarship is offered to seniors in high school only.

OPSO Womens Committee Scholarship
​Due March 23, 2022

An amount of $1,000.00 is available for scholarships..  This competition is open to all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders who attend Orchard Park Schools or who are residents of Orchard Park and attend public or private schools.  Also eligible are 9th-11th graders who are immediate family members of an Orchard Park Symphony member, are members themselves of the OPSO or students who are sponsored by an OPSO member or the music director.  Members of the SYO are also eligible to compete.
